Brake Rotor Service

Over time, even normal driving eventually causes a vehicle’s braking system to wear down. While the brake system is one of the most important safety features in your car, its proper maintenance is often overlooked. It is important to watch for signs that your brake rotors may be compromised and have them checked as soon as possible.

Symptoms indicating your rotors may need service:

  • Wobbling or pulsating when braking, especially at high speeds
  • Rattling or shaking when braking
  • Excessive vibration through the brake pedal
  • Screeching noise when braking

Our expert technicians will:

  • Resurface or replace rotors if warped or compromised
  • Inspect brake system hardware and components
  • Replace other worn brake components with new, reliable replacements

To be sure that your brake rotors remain safe, bring your vehicle in for regularly scheduled auto maintenance. A certified technician will be able to tell whether your brake pads or rotors are warped or in danger of failure. Contact us today to set an appointment.

What are brake rotors and what role do they play in braking?

Brake rotors are large metal discs located inside of each wheel. The rotor is attached to the wheel by the car’s axle. Brake rotors are an essential part of the foundation of your car’s brake system. If the right friction levels are not right or the rotor surface is compromised, these complex systems will not operate properly.

Your car’s brake pad tightens on the rotor as the brake pedal is pressed, and pressure is exerted on the fluid in the master cylinder. This in turn activates the caliper housing in both pads, and the resulting friction transforms the forward momentum of the vehicle into heat. This heat is dispersed from the rotor and pad to the air around the wheel, slowing down wheel rotation, which ultimately stops the movement of the vehicle.

Brake rotors need to be inspected and checked for warping or rust during every brake pad replacement.
